Come on, Maintain Eye Health Epithelial Network to Prevent Corneal Abrasion
Epithelial tissue is one of the tissues in living things, in addition to muscle tissue, connective tissue, and nerve tissue. Epithelial tissue lining the cavity and surface of blood vessels. Epithelial tissue is also found in all organs of the body, including the cornea of the eye.
Epithelial tissue has three main forms namely flat (squamous), cylindrical (columnar) and cube (cuboidal). These epithelial cells can be arranged in only one layer or even in layers. In terms of age, the functions of the epithelial layer include protecting, producing fluids, absorbing and transporting certain substances as well as being a means of taste.
One of the tissues built by the epithelial layer is the cornea of the eye. The cornea of the eye is the part that lines the front layer of the eye. The epithelium as the outermost layer in the cornea of the eye functions to prevent foreign objects from outside the body from entering the eye. This layer also functions to absorb oxygen and nutrients from tears.
Know Corneal Abrasion
It is also possible for the corneal epithelial lining to get injured. Injuries called corneal abrasion are generally common, so often ignored as a condition that is not alarming. However, deep corneal abrasion can cause a non-smooth layer of the corneal epithelium or scar tissue. Corneal abrasion occurs because the surface of the cornea is scratched or scraped due to rubbing against foreign objects, such as makeup scratches, nail scratches, or broken glass. There are also some people who experience corneal abrasion or abrasions on the cornea due to contact lens wear and ultimately risk of corneal ulcer infection. In general, medical experts usually deal with giving topical antibiotics to prevent infection, but now the technique has been done on wounds that are considered minor or small. One other treatment is to close your eyes with special tools. But this method should not be recommended anymore. It is suspected that this method will actually reduce the supply of oxygen, increasing humidity which ultimately delays the healing process.Preventing and Caring for Eyes to Avoid Corneal Abrasion
